Are you or your teenage kids also bugged by Acne problems? The reason why so many young people are getting Acne during puberty or right before their periods are because of changing hormones.
Fortunately, I never have to worry about pimples. My mom too, are not bothered by them. So without any personal experience, I'm having a hard time tackling my son's Acne concerns. Jonathan is going 18. Thankfully, his pimples aren't as serious as the pix above, just a few popping out mostly on his forehead, but they keep coming back & he gets frustrated.
Like many mothers, I went hopping from products to products off the shelf, trying in vain to resolve the issue. But when that didn't help, it's time to seek professional advice.
I was really relieved when CeleVenus Wellness & Aesthetic Clinic stepped in to introduce their Sciton Broadband Light (BBL) treatment, the newest generation & most advanced of Intense Pulsed Light therapy. Its shorter wavelengths of BBL, in the blue-light spectrum, targets p-acne bacteria (p-acnes bacteria that are partially responsible for acne in the skin) on the surface & in the sebaceous gland.
The process (Anti-Acne Broadband Light Facial):
I had a hard time convincing Jon to do the treatment as he said it's too gay. But when I finally succeeded in coaxing him to go to Celevenus for the BBL, he was having fun. It was Jon's first time going to a facial with me. Therapist Peggy was gentle & extremely patient with his nonsense like during extraction & the BBL treatment, which Jon described as "like a rubber band shot" on his face. Lol!
What the treatment is like:
A thin film of gel is applied to your skin, followed by the BBL treatment. Most patients have minimal discomfort. Treatment sessions last 20-30 minutes.
What to expect after treatment:
After treatment is completed, some may experience temporary reddening & minimal swelling of the acne, & surrounding skin for 1-2 days. This is transient & usually associated with minimal to no downtime. Makeup can be applied immediately, if desired.
How many treatments are needed:
To achieve maximum improvement with BBL, a series of 6 bi-weekly treatments is most effective. Patients may need periodic touch up treatments depending on their acne type & severity.

Acne occurs when hair follicle pores are blocked by natural components of the skin. This is the root of most acne lesions. Once blocked, inflammation & bacteria overgrowth occur leading to red bumps & cysts in the skin. Sebaceous or sweat glands of the skin can contribute excessive amounts of sebum into the plugged follicle increasing inflammation. But with so many alternatives to treat Acne, & with parents willing to splurge on their kids today, teenagers no longer have to suffer like the old days.Fortunately, I never have to worry about pimples. My mom too, are not bothered by them. So without any personal experience, I'm having a hard time tackling my son's Acne concerns. Jonathan is going 18.
