After mingling with the Angry Birds at the Finnair’s Lounge in Helsinki, it was finally time for me to board the plane!

Finnair pampered their passengers with live band playing the Angry Birds theme song at the Helsinki Airport boarding gate.

There were more Angry Birds at the counter welcoming passengers in the queue to board the plane.

Once on board Finnair, Angry Birds stuffed toys on each passenger’s seat soon greeted us.

Look what greeted me at Finnair’s check-in counter in Helsinki!

Being a frequent traveller, checking-in at airports is nothing unusual for me. But this time, I was totally in for a surprise! The flight to the Angry Birds Asian Challenge started right from the check-in counter. This meant that every fare-paying passenger were also in for a sweet treat, & this was just the appetizer!

After a short stint in the beautiful city of Helsinki, it was time to embark on a 12-hr flight back to Singapore on Finnair’s Angry Birds flight.

Oreo Cheesecake or Baileys Cheesecake? Well, what about having them both in one cake! That was exactly what I did for my hubby’s birthday, a perfect marriage between Oreo Cookies & Baileys Irish Cream!

The result was a blowout! It was a fresh interpretation of a novel challenge on the plate for me; this new taste will unquestionably appeal to the adventurous palates. The birthday cake stood out for its Oreo biscuit texture & rich cheesy Baileys flavour. Only complaint from me: I could’ve been more generous with the Baileys. Lol!

Historical Suomenlinna Sea Fortress

A trip to Helsinki wouldn’t be complete without seeing the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Suomenlinna is a maritime fortress & a naval base for the Archipelago Fleet; built in the 18th century during the era of the Swedish rule.

Together with my travel buddy Bryan, we took a 20-min ferry ride from the Market Square to the Fortress. Although it was drizzling when we reached our destination, it soon turned sunny again after some time.

The Rock Church is one of Helsinki’s most important tourist attractions & it’s also a popular venue for concerts because of the excellent acoustics.

The ceiling is a giant disc made of copper wire.

Their interior walls are created by rocks & natural light brightens the inside through 180 glasses between the dome & the wall.
